We aim to provide comprehensive information, guidance, and a community of support for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
About Kidney Cancer Australia
Kidney Cancer Australia is a non-profit organisation committed to improving the lives of individuals and families impacted by kidney cancer.
We aim to raise awareness, provide education, and advocate for better access to quality care, treatment and support services.
Our vision is a future where kidney cancer is better understood, effectively treated, and where no one faces this disease alone.
Working Together Globally
Kidney Cancer Australia collaborates globally with the International Kidney Cancer Coalition (IKCC) to reduce the worldwide burden of kidney cancer - a major public heath challenge, with 1.37 million people currently affected across the world.
In 2022, there were 435,000 new cases diagnosed, and the incidence is projected to rise by more than 71% by 2050.
Understanding Kidney Cancer
Kidney cancer, also known as renal cancer, is a type of cancer that develops in the kidneys. It occurs when abnormal cells in the kidney grow and divide uncontrollably, forming a tumour.
There are different types of kidney cancer, with the most common being renal cell carcinoma (RCC).
